Slate Roman dial with a brighter edge
The Wimbledon dial is the deciding reason to buy this Datejust. Its slate sunburst surface changes from graphite to a lighter metallic grey, and the green-bordered Roman numerals give the face its recognizable character. That color is controlled rather than loud: it is concentrated in the numerals, leaving the slate field, hands and date display easy to read.
The fluted bezel changes the watch from a dial-led Datejust into a more formal-looking piece. It creates a crisp ring of reflection around the cooler center and makes the 41mm case feel dressed without requiring a two-tone palette. The Jubilee bracelet matters just as much. Its five-link structure breaks up the visual weight of the case and gives this larger Datejust a more fluid line at the wrist than a three-link bracelet.
