The black lacquer dial gives the broad 41mm Submariner front a clear centre. Its dark surface leaves the markers and hands easy to read, while the black bezel carries the same tone through the outer ring rather than introducing another colour.
The yellow-gold-plated 904L steel presentation changes the wearing role. This is still recognisably a Submariner, but the warm case and Oyster bracelet make it better suited to a deliberate evening rotation than an anonymous daily sports watch.
The dark dial also changes how the plated case reads in ordinary light. It gives the warm metal a clear edge around the face, so the watch looks intentional rather than uniformly bright. The broad hands, round hour markers and date magnifier remain familiar Submariner cues, but the colour balance makes this a more formal choice than a steel sports watch.
The Oyster bracelet continues the gold tone around the wrist without adding a finer link pattern. That matters when the case already has strong visual presence: the three-link rhythm keeps the whole watch coherent. The black bezel remains a firm outer border even when the bracelet catches more light.
